The Pakistan Japan Cultural Association (PJCA), Islamabad, is proud to announce the publication of its first International Multilingual Haiku Anthology, Sakura Fubuki (桜吹雪); PJCA’s First International Multilingual Haiku Anthology, dedicated to the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan — 14 August 2026.

This landmark literary initiative celebrates Pakistan’s independence through the universal language of poetry while reaffirming the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Japan. Developed in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan, the anthology brings together poetic voices from across the world, featuring 657 original haiku contributions by 335 poets representing 45 countries.

Reflecting diverse cultures, experiences, and creative expressions, the anthology presents these poetic works in multiple languages. The original English haiku submissions have been translated into Urdu and Japanese by qualified translators and reviewed by experts in both languages, creating a meaningful bridge between cultures and languages.

Beyond poetry, Sakura Fubuki includes essays, artwork, and cultural contributions that further enrich this unique literary endeavor. The publication represents PJCA’s continued commitment to promoting cultural diplomacy, literary exchange, and people-to-people connections between Pakistan and Japan through creativity and mutual understanding.
